Increase in Number of ITAs Issued under British Columbia PNP Across Popular Categories

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) held a draw on October 12 in which 805 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued in five categories of the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC streams.

Under the BC PNP draw; these are the highest number of ITAs that have been issued. This also means that the requirement for points has also decreased for each category. Under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) only the top-scoring candidates will be able receive the ITA.

The SIRS is an intake management system in which a score is given to every candidate after registration. This score is determined on the basis of education, civil status information and work experience.

At the time of registration, a category is selected by the candidate as per the eligibility and under the category required to be considered. The categories that are included under the BC PNP are:

  • Skilled Worker – Express Entry BC: This category is suitable for international skilled workers who have professional, technical, management, trade and other skilled occupation experience. They must have post-secondary education and must have a profile in the federal express entry pool. A successful candidate is the one who is able to acquire 600 or more points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). There is also a requirement to have job offer from an employer in British Columbia.
  • Express Entry BC – International Graduate: A candidate who has passed out from a college or university in Canada within the past two years is eligible to apply for this category. A candidate who has acquired education from any place in the country is eligible to apply under this category; it is not restricted to students who have passed out from BC only.
  • Skills Immigration – Skilled Worker: Workers who have post-secondary education can apply for this category provided they have experience in a skilled occupation. A job offer is also required from an employer in BC. This category is not aligned with Express Entry.
  • Skills Immigration – International Graduate: This category is for those people who have graduated from a college or university in Canada along with a job offer from an employer in Canada.
